C.G. Jung Institute of Pittsburgh in Co-Sponsorship with Pittsburgh Jung Society Presents:

When Jung Meets Buddha:
East/West Contributions to Healing and Sanity

Presented by
Kallon Basquin, Ph.D., L.C.S.W.

April 12th, 2008 from 9 am - 4 pm
Friends Meeting House
4836 Ellsworth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213

"This we know beyond all doubt, that empirical reality has a transcendental background."
- Jung (Jung, 1963, para. 768)

"Pain is unavoidable, suffering is optional."
-Buddha

Jung and Buddha have met and the world will never be the same again! Issues, methodologies and perspectives on health, healing and sanity are being re-examined and deepened by this cross-fertilization of East/West contemplative and scientific traditions. New potentials for human growth and spiritual evolution are now being explored by Westerners like never before. This is all well and good, but what does it mean for us?

This one-day workshop will offer participants an opportunity to explore an Integral approach to working with body, energy (soul) and consciousness from both Western psycho-spiritual and Eastern healing traditions. Participants will learn:

• An Integral view of the States/Stages of Consciousness.
• The contemplative view of human growth and development.
• The limitations and benefits of meditation and prayer.
• Tantric/Dzogchen healing with sound and energy.
• Contemplative practices to cleanse anger, attachment and fear.
• Insight into your own spiritual journey.
• Practical tools for personal growth and healing.

This workshop will utilize meditations, art, music and film clips to support participants in opening their hearts to deeper levels of understanding and wholeness. Participants may choose to bring their own lunch. During the lunch break, there will be a documentary of Joseph Campbell comparing East/West approaches to The Divine.

Kallon Basquin, Ph.D., L.C.S.W., is a psychologist in private practice and a philosophical entertainer. He has studied meditation and principles of enlightened living with Tibetan masters for over 30 years as well as practicing an Integral approach to mind/body/spirit (via Ken Wilbur) in his therapy practice. He travels internationally facilitating workshops that synchronize East/West healing and spiritual traditions as his contribution to creating an enlightened society.
