Darth Vader Needs Love, Too!:
East/West Approaches to Transforming the Shadow

Presented by
Kallon Basquin, Ph.D., L.C.S.W.

September 27, 2008 from 9 am - 4:30 pm
Friends Meeting House
4836 Ellsworth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213

"One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious."
- Carl Jung

"There is nothing that you can see, hear, or image that you are not. Without embracing the Dark,
there can be no joy, no celebration, no enlightenment."
- Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche

One of the greatest contributions to spiritual realization in the past 200 years has been the discovery of The Shadow. This Dark Avenger is none other than those undigested pieces of emotional ad imaginal debris lying at the bottom of our individual and collective psyche. Therapists, spiritual teachers and practitioners, presidents, adults, children. . . all dance with this Dark Partner. For those brave souls evolving toward wholeness, healing, and enlightenment, their work is to bring the shadow elements into the Light, where they can be transformed by love and acceptance into powerful spiritual allies. This workshop will explore Tantric and therapeutic methods of transforming shadow elements.

Participants will learn

  • East/West methods for identifying and working with our shadows.
  • Tantric Practices that transform anger, attachment, and denial into allies.
  • The benefits and limitations of therapy and meditation in transformation
  • Powerful healing practices utilizing Sound and Energy.
  • Gain insight into your personal journey.
  • Receive practical tools for personal growth and healing.

This workshop will utilize Tantric meditations, sound, art, music, video clips, and group exercises to help open our hearts to an ever-increasing capacity to embrace and accept our individual and collective shadow elements. Participants may choose to bring their own lunch. During the lunch break,

Kallon Basquin, Ph.D., L.C.S.W., is a psychologist in private practice. He has studied meditation and principles of enlightened living with Tibetan masters for over 30 years as well as practicing an Integral approach to mind/body/spirit (via Ken Wilbur) in his therapy practice. He travels internationally facilitating workshops that synchronize East/West healing and spiritual traditions as his contribution to creating an enlightened society.
